A wind-up gramophone information day was held in 2003 and again in 2007. Members of the public who own a wind-up gramophone were invited to bring it along to the museum where experts were on hand to identify their machine and to provide information about its history and how to care for it. Both days were an overwhelming success with over 25 gramophones (in various states of repair and condition) being brought in for advice on each day. Assistance with gramophones and phonographs is available on a continuing basis, free of charge, from the Light and Sound Discovery Centre by phoning Richard Rennie 08 9330 1636. |
